Before we start I ask you forgive my writing skills in advance. I am not a writer in anyway but I decided to write a blog for my family and close friends to share and hopefully come along on our journey with us!!

Now a little about us...

Danny & I met in 1997 in Newcastle, NSW whilst both serving in the Royal Australian Navy. In February 2000 we were married and have never looked back.

During the Easter Holidays in 2000 we took our two boys to the Darling Harbour Aquarium. Whilst cruising up Sydney Harbour on one of the many ferries I noticed there was a lot of yachts at anchor and/or on moorings. I had an epiphany and blurted out to my husband...

"We should buy a yacht one day to live on and go sailing"...

I should point out, we didn't know the difference between a trailer sailer, a racing yacht or a cruising yacht!

We attended a boat show in Rozelle Bay shortly after the Easter Holidays and that was it, we had a goal and were on a mission! On the way home we said as soon as our youngest son finishes year 12 and is settled in a career, we will retire and buy the perfect yacht and go sailing!

From that moment forward my husband started researching yachts, costs, bought every book known to man about long term cruising and even bought every and I mean every Cruising Helmsman from April 2000. I have to admit, he would talk about this yacht design vs that yacht design. What hull type, steel vs fibre glass, centre cockpit vs aft cockpit, you get my drift. I would just zone out and nod every now and again.

In November 2001 we discharged from the Navy and moved to Cairns, QLD.

Over the next 12 years our passion for going cruising just grew and we were champing at the bit to go sailing but as you all know, life always throws you a curve ball when you least expect it. Instead of buying a yacht and casting off, we moved to the Gold Coast to care for Danny's 92yo grandmother who we called Nana. Danny's grandmother had two choices, a nursing home or full time live in carer, so we chose to look after her instead. We sadly lost Nana in March 2016.

In July 2016 Danny found the perfect yacht to buy and our journey starts here...
