........missing!
12 May 2018 | Cadaques
We arrived in Barcelona as planned, but then discovered our luggage was.....missing! Apparently it was reluctant to go with us and was still in Newcastle. Although we were told we would receive it the following day, it was a concern as we had packed all kinds of stuff in there -satellite phone, LED lights, various other boat stuff, clothes, and other items we couldn't remember.
Because of the delay in lost baggage, we missed the last train, and had to take a taxi to the marina, arriving at 1am. We still managed an arrival beer, and celebrated the fact that the new rib was no longer ......missing.
We now had just 2 days to prepare for our first guests, and lots of jobs to do (most of which relied on stuff in our luggage, which was still ....missing!).
Thursday 3rd May - the guests were due to arrive and they landed on time, but then there was silence. It seems they had gone .....missing? However, the luggage turned up at the marina (apparently it had arrived the day before but no-one thought to tell us?). After a while, and numerous texts and messages, we received a call to say they were in the next town and would arrive in Arenys in 10 minutes - not much notice to get to the station to meet them!
Denise, Paul, Shirley and Brian had arrived, and we planned to sail to Cadaques, with a couple of nights at anchor on the way there and back. However, it was raining, and the forecast was not great either, despite the UK basking in the hottest bank holiday for 40yrs (thanks Tom!) but this did not stop us. We left on Saturday and had a really nice time, despite a little bit of sea-sickness and toilet issues for the newbies! We saw dolphin and tuna but the fishing was disappointing, not a single bite over the whole trip - it seems the fish were also ...missing.
Saturday 12th May. We are back in the marina in Arenys, just the two of us, and we are preparing to leave this place for good. The cleaning and laundry is all done, and today was spent ripping the teak boards from the cockpit, ready to install the replacements tomorrow (weather permitting). There are still a few jobs to complete before we leave, but the weather looks good for a sail to Mallorca next week.
Now just to decide where to spend Beryl's birthday, which is unfortunately not....missing!
