Heading South - Follow the bear

A motoring passage today to reach the Spanish naval port of Cartagena, we choose to take a berth in the Real Club Regatas complete with its own restaurant and swimming pool at a very reasonable rate.

On arriving Steven completed the log and in trying to check the barometer reading on his watch, it disintegrated - clearly too many years in the sun and the salt had finally destroyed it (a sad moment as it had been sailing with Steven for some 20 years, completed tens of thousands of miles and has now committed its carcass to recycling!!).

As Steven needed a replacement, we took a walk into the city which is mainly pedestrianised.

Wandering through the back streets, we found small jewellers with a brand of watch we had seen and liked previously from which Steven selected a nice easy to read replacement. New watchy duly entered into the ships log!

We stopped for a beer and light tapas on the way back to the marina and having listened to the Italian version of Sunset and their national anthem playing on the Italian naval frigate berthed by the club we then relaxed for the evening.
