Hasta luego Symphony, muchas gracias, love Steven & Lisa xx

We have returned to Spain to meet the new owners of Symphony, Arek and Iwona, to run through all her systems.

We're back, overalls in hand!

As quick reminder, at the end of the season in 2019, we decided Symphony would be put on the market and we would start the process of buying/fitting out a blue water yacht to head off into the yonder. Well, what with Covid-19, the restrictive lockdowns over the last two years and life in general we have [...]

Our month at Sant Carles

Well, it is true to say, August in the Western Mediterranean becomes very, very busy and expensive. The Balearic Islands during this time are infiltrated with French & Italians all willing to pay vast amounts of euros to stay anywhere here. Even the mainland, north above Barcelona, leans to French Riviera [...]

Dia de Arroz

Dia de Arroz translates to "day of the rice" and is essentially Sant Carles De La Rapita's harvest festival.

What a feast & Steven becomes an apprentice

Not content with taking us out on their boat, Jordi and Rosa kindly invited us to their home to celebrate the Fiesta de Santa Rosa.

Homeward bound - Eventually!

We spent one night aboard out of the water and shared a 'throw in' meal with Trevor & Maggie as they too were staying on-board in the yard. We then spent a night in a small B&B in the town before we journeyed home. The bus ride from Sant Carles to Barcelona airport took us along the coast giving us our final glimpses of the Med for this year.

On arrival at the airport, we were dismayed to find out our plane was delayed and this delay continued to increase whilst we were waiting.
The delay did allow us to meet and chat to an American couple (Lucia and Richard) who were travelling to meet their children in the UK.

When we finally got in the air it was not too bad a flight with only a slightly bumpy descent into Gatwick in the crosswinds.

Following the train ride home, it was good to pick up a Chinese and chill out.
