A different kind of boat...

We are finally heading back to Symphony! We have completed the impossible list of tasks and yesterday we left Nova Scotia to begin the return trip to Norfolk, VA where Symphony awaits us...We strategicly left our car at the marina where we'll be keep ing symphony in Nova Scotia so it will be ready for us when we finally get there, and proceeded by rental car to Yarmouth where we returned the rental and boarded the ferry boat.
And what a ferry boat! The boat is a giant catamaran and, once we cleared the harbor entry, we crossed the Gulf of Maine at 40 knots! Despite gale warnings, 5-7 foot waves and rain and fog, the motion was hardly even noticeable and we ate lobster rolls while watching a movie without even needing a jacket! What a contrast with how a similar crossing would be in Symphony! We would take 24 hours instead of three, be wearing full foulies and every warm thing we have and still be feeling cold and wet, the boat would be pitching rather noticibly, and we wouldn't even think about watching a movie! With luck and planning, our passage back to Nova Scotia will be in more sailboat-friendly conditions!
Now we are back in the US and we'll rent another car for the drive back to Norfolk. With luck, we'll be back aboard and sleeping in our own berths in just a few days...we are very ready to get home to Symphony.
