From two months to two days
29 July 2010 | Gold River, NS
Okay so my last log entry was two months ago...the inactivity in the log is not indicative of a lack of activity on the cruising preparations! indeed, the last two months have been more intense than any I can recall as we got Evelyn graduated from high school, rented our house, found somebody to care for two of our cats (Scourge is sailing with us, of course), decommissioned our cars and worked franticly on a massive refit of the boat...all while I continue my full-time job.
But now we are two days from departure! Yes, there are massive lists of things yet to do and it seems absorb to think we'll get them done, but I'm beginning to think we might just get enough done that we can get underway on Friday. Of course, to start off with a new engine that hasn't yet been started and without having moved the boat further than the 100 feet yet this season seems absurd but one of the things about having cruised before is that we've learned to cope with this sort of absurdity: When the boat is fundamentally seaworthy and the weather says go, you go!
Today we worked from 7am to midnight, tomorrow looks like a repeat....but the sea is calling and there will be time to relax under sail...
