The Grander Scheme: s/v Northern Symphony

Another simple dream...Another crazy notion: To make a sequel to our Grand Scheme by making an extended great loop starting from our home in Nova Scotia. One boat, two so-called adults, one or two children, and one cat.

Old friends

30 August 2010 | Southwest Harbor, ME
Today was our second full day here on Mount Desert Island and Anne, Evelyn, and Leslie took advantage of the free bus service and went over to the Oceanarium while I did my work. They came back and reported that it was less than they had thought it might be but that it was fun and they learned a bunch of interesting thing about lobsters and enjoyed seeing the various creatures, including the two colorful version in the picture (natural freaks, not painted!)

Being back in the USA is interesting. We've been very pleased with our move to Canada and there are a great many things that we've come to know and love there but, having grown up in the US, there are some things that we miss. Not in the sense of spending time wishing we had them, but in the sense of happy reunion when we find them again. Now, I could be talking about many things here, but where it is most noticeable is in the supermarket! Yesterday we walked into town and did some grocery shopping and every aisle held another discovery: Wow! They have Thomas's English Muffins! Look! REAL Grape-Nuts!, Milano Cookies! Toasted Wheat-Germ! It will be interested, a year from now, to see what we are overjoyed to see again when we get back into Canadian stores!
