Anchors a weigh

Today was mercifully short. Neither Evelyn nor I got much sleep; Leslie got more, but not enough. We knew we were only going a short distance, though, so it was OK.
We were pleased to find that the anchor rode had not done anything bad (like wrap around the keel) when the current changed. We weighed anchor at 0800 in light rain, and decent visibility. We had to go back south to clear the end of the submerged dike (which was actually showing just a bit this morning and clearly marked by birds) before turning north and heading to the C&D canal.
Leslie has taken watch at the helm many times while the auto pilot was in control, but today was her first time steering. The canal was actually a good place for it: flat calm, wide, deep, and no boat traffic ahead or behind. She was a little uneasy about it, but she did fine.
We are docked at Summit North Marina and will sleep much better tonight. Congratulations to Evelyn for her first solo docking! Upon arrival, Leslie recognized this a the place she saw a beaver last time we were here. Lo and behold, on our way to the shore facilities, we saw a beaver again.
