Backing up has become a serious issue for Northern Symphony....We can do it, but only at low speeds/torques....rev the engine and horrible vibrations and noises come from the transmission. We've moved about ten miles further down the ICW from our anchorage last night to a boatyard where we will get things put right.

Of course, getting in here required docking. Usually, we pull bow-first into a slip and use a burst of engine power in reverse to stop the boat. However, given our particular issues, this time we backed into into our slip so that we could use a burst of forward thrust to stop the boat. Pleasantly enough, all went well and we are now happily tied up.
