The Grander Scheme: s/v Northern Symphony

Another simple dream...Another crazy notion: To make a sequel to our Grand Scheme by making an extended great loop starting from our home in Nova Scotia. One boat, two so-called adults, one or two children, and one cat.

Lazy cruising

23 March 2011 | Wabasso Beach, FL
This was a gentle day. Not an unproductive day by any means, but nothing stressful or pushy, either. We started with a morning fog in Ft. Pierce and a trip ashore for breakfast at a very nice bakery. I started doing my work and, during a ten-minute break between phone calls, we left the dock and headed out into the ICW.

In this area, the ICW runs in wide, shallow spaces between the mainland and the barrier islands that run continuously along the coast here. This means miles and miles of motoring in long straight lines with an occasional bridge to pass under or through. With occasional dolphins, other boats, etc. its not boring, just a relaxing drive-the-boat kind of day. We stopped early in a very nicely protected anchorage, and enjoyed a restful afternoon with games and reading in the evening.
