Thomas Leising | Beautiful sunny day, high 78
Woke up around 6:30 and were able to say goodbye to John and Linda who left around 7:15. We wished them well and will keep in touch. Had a leisurely breakfast of Pillsbury cinnamon rolls and bacon this morning. Walked around the shops at the marina and went to rent some bikes (the dock master told us yesterday that it would be about $7or $8 dollars. Well the shop we went to said it $30 each and extra if you wanted baskets, helmets. We told him we were staying at the marina but that didn't give us a discount either.
Back to the boat and we looked in the welcoming brochure they gave us and called the number in there. After waiting on hold for 15 min. when we spoke to a person he actually steered us to another rental shop about a mile from the marina called Peddling Pelican Bike rentals. Since it was already noon we decided to rent for just 1/2 day (later in the day we called and extended it til tomorrow).
We took off with our map of Sea Pines and peddled through some beautiful neighborhoods. This resort is setup with 93 miles of bike paths with 99% of the, relatively flat. The bikes are single speed and are so easy to pedal. We went to the southern most tip of Sea Pines to the Salty Dog cafe where we had lunch of an ahi tuna salad with delicious wasabi dressing. After lunch we went to store where we bought some t-shirts, a bottle cozy and I bought a hat! Back on our bikes and we headed back to the marina. We did stop off at the pool we can use and it's very nice. We may visit that tomorrow. All in all we rode about 6 miles and walked 1.5.
Back to the boat and we just 'vegged' in the cockpit, had a glass of wine and dozed! After awhile we went below to start planning our return trip and the next thing we knew it was 8:00. Decided not to have anything of substance so we opted for a banana split ice cream sundae and coffee mmmm good.
Thanks also to Peggy and Judy for faithfully reading the blog and your comments - so fun to read!
Tomorrow I'll wash down the boat and fill the water tanks then the fun will start.
