Savusavu; Always Entertaining

We've been hunkered down here for almost a week waiting for weather to pass and enjoying the local action. Copra Shed recently finished re-building their docks post cyclone season after a yacht careened into them during the storm. The layout has improved and way more boats are using this as their arrival port via the Blue Lane program into Fiji.

Between downpours we managed to do our favorite spots and get loaded up with goodies only available here. Weird how I used to shop at only a couple favorite stores. Now we have to get specific things available only at specific towns and shops. John gets a bit grumpy dragging bags and finding enough hands to do Covid check in and out of each store. Fortunately he hangs in there.

The Island harbor and resort construction is going hot and heavy again across from Copra Shed. We got the last buoy in the harbor which put us right on top of the jetty for the construction crews. Made for some entertainment watching the clever tricks to get items unloaded. A heavy equipment barge had to come down the narrow passage avoiding all the moored yachts and make as sharp turn as feasible for a barge into the Quarantine anchorages in order to unload equipment and supplies. Several yachts had to be swung out of the way to make this path happen. We kept an eye out on our neighbors boat as we knew they were not on board for the day.

Savusavu is such a laid back welcoming town even with covid and masks you feel the Bula Smiles.
