Subasta

Fred (and Penny's 2 cents)
Well the big Subasta (auction) that everyone here has been working on for the entire year was a big success. There were food booths, beer booths, silent auctions, clothing tables and stuff tables. There was something for everyone and the clothing tables were jammed with people all day until everything was sold out. The live auction was very spirited and lasted about 3 hours. Lots of donated stuff like boat parts, TV's, electronics, printers, etc. Interesting to watch what people bought and what they paid for it. Printers sold for 10 bucks but they needed about 60 bucks worth of ink and they probably didn't have the cords necessary. Sure looked like everyone went away happy though . . . we bought lots of raffle tickets - didn't win anything however Sun Baby and Adirondack went home happy campers. We purchased two great hand painted t-shirts and Penny WON (ha-ha) a nice ceramic plate in the silent auction. The win cost her 200 pesos!
The weather was beautiful as it was not windy and the temperature was in the low 80's. After that we went and had crepes for dinner followed by ice cream and 4 games of pool. Penny got me 3 out of 4 games. Doesn't help when you scratch shooting the 8 ball.
Penny's Two Cents:
Everyone here at Marina de la Paz monitors Channel 22 and this channel is used to hail folks on different boats.
So . . . the way that you call out to another boat is to say the name of their boat 3 times.
