Leaving Mazatlan
27 December 2010 | Between Mazatlan and Isla Isabella
Fred
We woke up this morning to the usual routine of coffee and listening to the cruisers net. Then off for a shower and at 9AM I went to the office to check out. The diver showed up at 10 and cleaned the bottom and when he finished we cast off and went to the Singlar Fuel Dock for fuel. It was a very narrow channel but we made it without running aground. We took on 73 gallons of fuel and then I had to turn the boat around in about 80 feet and against the wind. We made it ok and headed out the channel and were relieved to find that the dredge was not working and not blocking the channel. We cleared El Cid at noon and headed south in a light northwest wind bound for Chacala, a small village about 140 miles south of Mazatlan. We will pass stopping at Isla Isabella as Penny and I decided that we really didn't want to hike in bird poop. Also the anchorage is small and rocky and friend Wytie took lots of pictures last year that we got to see so we feel that we got the tour with out the smell and mess. After a few days in Chacala, we will sail south to La Cruz and stay in the new marina there for New Years and probably a week. We will make a few day trips on land to seek out some old friends that live in the area and see the countryside.
So that is it for now, Penny is making some soup and I am on watch so have to go topside and stare into the night and look at the millions of stars in the sky.
