New Years Eve in La Cruz

We came to La Cruz for New Years Eve as we thought it would be livelier than Chacala. So we headed to Philo's Studio and Bar with Ellen, Ian and Joe to eat dinner and listen to some music. They would not take reservations so we got there at 7 and got a good table with the intention of eating and drinking slow so as to monopolize the table for as long as possible. Turned out not to be a problem as there was no hassle to hurry and turn the table. We had some drinks and I was pleased that they had a supply of O'Douls on hand. The music started at 8 and Philo and his band took the stage. Philo plays the electric guitar and harmonica and is the lead singer. There is a base guitar, drummer and Leon on washboard. He has a washboard hung around his neck with 2 cow bells attached, a cymbal and a honk type horn. He wears gloves that look like sailing gloves but have metal on the ends and he is really quite good and adds an interesting dimension to the music. The music was outstanding being rock and blues to my ear and Ellen thought Cajun which I think is the same thing. Philo's son who is 4 got up with Dad and his play guitar and he was precious. See the picture in the Gallery.
Dinner consisted of a Pizza and full rack of ribs that Joe and I split and the ribs were the best that I have ever tasted. So good in fact that I have been back 3 times for ribs and Penny has as well. We danced and had a great time. We left at 11:30 and headed back to the Marina to go to the Sky Bar to watch the fireworks all around Banderas Bay. I counted at least 16 different firework sites and it was a spectacular evening to end a great year with new found friends.
