Back in La Cruz

We are really glad to be back in La Cruz again. It really is a charming little village and the marina is first class. We are on dock 4 this time which is right at the front gate so a quick jaunt into town and especially the ice cream store. It is a hike to the head and showers but so what, as long as you are close to food and ice cream.
We decided to give Bucerias another try as the first 2 times we went there it was nothing to write home about. We asked around and were told to take the bus to the end of town and not to get off at the Centro stop, so we did that. There is a shop called Pie in the Sky on the highway that has awesome sticky buns and great latte. After a mid morning breakfast we crossed the highway to the bank to make the weekly withdrawal and then headed down towards the beach and an all inclusive hotel. The hotel was painted every color in the rainbow and was full of people. From there we found the main street and what we were looking for, Art Galleries. We had heard that Bucerias had a good art community and we finally found it. I guess the 3rd time is a charm. We enjoyed looking at the art and successfully resisted any purchases. We did have a great lunch at a small restaurant where they served the comida corrida, soup, main course and soup for $45 pesos ($3.60).
So life in La Cruz is great, many inexpensive restaurants, great music and a really laid back atmosphere. It has become one of our favorites. Thursday nights they have a movie in the amphitheatre, Penny took a cooking class, and I worked on the boat and made a trip into PV to go to the local marine store for a few items.
Penny and I decided to go to Costco to see what it was like and to pick up a couple of new pillows for the bed and some other things. We were told to take the bus to PV and get off at the end of the line and walk perpendicular to the main street and we would run into Costco. Sure enough we did and the first thing we did was get a hot dog! Not Hebrew National but still good. The layout was the same as in the states so you felt like you were in any Costco except the prices were in pesos. Back on the bus to La Cruz in time to go to dinner, probably Tacos on the Street which is one of the better small places. $120 pesos for a dinner for 2. You get three choices, rib eye taco, rib eye quesadilla or rib eye tostada. Limited menu but standing room only unless you get there early.
