Mazatlan in the fog

Well the good smooth weather lasted all night and we made good time arriving at the southern entrance to the old harbor in the dark and pea soup fog. We slowed down as we were going to the new marina north of town but wanted to get across the shipping lane fast in the fog. Fortunately all the big ships must have been sleeping as we had no problem. We arrived at our waypoint just off the entrance in the fog and as the sun was just getting up so we just die
Led around in circles. A few pangas came out and an occasional boat. We listened to the net at 8 and talked to some folks that said it cleared up early yesterday. Well at 9:30 it was still socked in but I spoke to a boater that was at El Cid marina just inside and he said it was clear there. So I slowly moved in until I could make out the jetty and since I had been in before I knew how to do it. We eased in and sure enough, 500 feet in and it was clear as a bell. So we are tied up at the marina and washed off the boat. It was covered in a muddy dirt that came off the rigging in the damp. It was real dusty in La Cruz so I was glad to get it off. Will be looking at the weather for the crossing to La Paz and so far it doesn't look real good for a few spades or more. We will wait and see as we have about 10 days until we have to be there and we like Mazatlan.
