Arriving and Exploring Agua Verde

We arrived at Agua Verde shortly after noon and anchored in the eastern cove with about 4 other boats. Anna and Mystic followed us in and a small power boat pulled anchor and left. Must have heard that we can be real noisy when playing Mexican Train. As the day went on we ended up with 11 boats in the anchorage but it is very calm. The beaches are starting to fill up with Easter Week campers all Mexicans. The cruising guide indicates that there is a tienda in the village and we can use a few supplies. A cruiser in Los Gatos who says that he has been down here 16 years said that if you are lucky you may get a potato or carrot in the tiendas so don't get your hopes up. Well we went in with Anna and Mystic and found the tiendas and they actually had a pretty full stock. Avocados, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, carrots, goat cheese, and Monterey Jack cheese. Also soft drinks, bread, tortilla, and cookies. I loaded up on 3 packs of cookies, 2 cokes, 3 packages of juice mix and 2 bags of nuts. Penny picked up tortillas, carrots, lettuce, avocados, apples, and cheese. She is the more practical one. We then walked around the village and there are 2 churches, one with a cross and one without. The Templo Mar de Cristal had some tents up and some people holding paper looking like they were rehearsing for Easter. On our next visit on Saturday the place was deserted so we assume that they are not having any Easter services. We also heard that there was to be a cockfight on Saturday at 3 pm. Penny and I spent some time wandering around the village and found the ball field where a baseball game was in progress. We found a shady tree and sat down and watched a few innings and it was fun. There was even a truck with a cooler of beer for sale and what looked like some food as well. The next two days and nights were spent hiking, beachcombing and just lazing around. We had very calm nights with some breeze and it was perfect sleeping weather. We did watch a few movies, had a few games of Mexican Train where the boys were victorious. This is probably one of my favorite places in the Sea so far.
