The Rocking Wally B Ranch Rally
03 August 2012 | Gunnison, CO Fairgrounds

I'm remiss in getting blogs together as there was not much wifi in the camp area.
We arrived in Gunnison in the early afternoon after a nice stay in the Ouray RV Park in Ouray, famous for it's hot springs. We had a great Italian dinner that night and got up fairly early and headed for Gunnison. A beautiful drive as has been all of them so far. We were parked in a primo space in front of the tent that would have the Happy Hours, seminars, and dinners so all was good. We were just 4 trailers down from our sistership (trailer) that just underwent a complete shell off restoration and it was beautiful. Fun to have both of them together. Just 2 serial numbers apart so they were on the line in 1956 together but it is interesting to see some subtle differences. Just goes to verify that there were really no two Airstreams alike back then.
We are in the Fairgrounds and parked in a circle formation and there are 72 trailers here. We get to watch them run the steers from the feeding pasture to the arena and then watch some team roping. Those steers do stir up some dust.
We spent 4 days at the rally and had the usual happy hour with kegs of beer and 2 Margarita machines working overtime each night. The community barbeque was lit at 6:30 after happy hour and we all provided a potluck side dish.
One morning we had a seminar on how to polish your Airstream, how to replace some panels, and information on axles, brakes and electrical troubleshooting. I picked up some good info and particularly the name of an appraiser that can apparaise my trailer so I can properly insure it for it's true value.
We had a great time and I will update you on our catered dinner that you had to wear a mustache to get in, girls included.
