Baja Bash Wrap

The last part of the trip went very well with little wind and no seas. The only obstacle in the way was off Santo Tomas just before Todos Santos I picked up a large blip on the radar and as we got closer I saw that it was what looked like a derelict freighter being towed. On closer inspection it turned out that the derelict was fish processing ship (I think) and there were 4 or 5 big Tuna pens that had been set up and a smaller boat looked to be delivering food to the pens. Normally the aquaculture operations are in coves and bays and not in the navigable paths. I am glad that it was daylight when we approached. We arrived at the Customs dock at 6:00 PM which was 4 days, 23 hours, and 45 minutes since we left Puerto Los Cabos Marina with a 2 hour stop in Turtle. Far cry from out last bash that took 17 days. Looks like we averaged about 6.5 knots for the trip where we were beat down to 4 and 5 knots but were getting favorable current at times for 8 knots. All in all a great delivery back home. It took Customs 2 hours to show up but they were very nice and only took our Mexican apples (they weren't very good anyway) and left us with all of our other food so Penny and I are set for 6 months as we way over provisioned to begin with. Great 6 months spent in Mexico and look forward to doing it again, although on someone else's boat.
