On The Road - Mazatlan (MZT) - January 27, 2016
Your Chief Blogger is laying low today with a cold - so Penny's Point of View prevails! Nice drive down the Autopista from El Fuerte to Mazatlan (MZT). Tip 1: pay for the toll road using those hard to change $500 peso notes. Tip 2: Bring lots of $500. peso notes, there are LOTS of toll booths! The road is a dream compared to driving Highway 1 in the Baja! Two lanes in each direction and even a shoulder! I shared the driving much to Fred's delight.

Every single camper carries a "bible" which is "Traveler's Guide to Mexican Camping" aptly written by Mike & Terry Church. Some campers treat it like a game of poker and won't share a thing, others share helpful tips and places they've enjoyed and recommend. Our first choice of RV parks in MZT was the Mar Rosa which is right on the beach and walking distance to practically everywhere - but "the book" basically said don't even try this park because advance reservations are a must and the front row is reserved years in advance. Well, not this year, yippee! Slid in, plugged in ($18 US per night) and walked across the street to watch the last half of the Bronco/Patriot game. GO BRONCO'S! Oh, and have a margarita of course as I perform a scientific rating in each town. This one performed poorly and only rated a 5.

I like Mazatlan! It is a big, gritty, noisy, Mexican city. The mercado is amazing, the beach is spectacular, the people friendly - what more could you ask! I took the bus to the market (while Fred laid low) and then walked the 5 miles back to the park. That evening we walked to Fat Fish and each had a full rack of BBQ'd ribs (a 10) and performed another M-Test which rated a 9. Life is good. Leaving tomorrow for Sayulita. Hasta Pronto and abrazos.
PS: Leave a "hi" or a "hey" if you read this. We super miss our buddies!!

Tapatai's Photos - Main
We left San Diego on January 16, heading South al gusto - with a sketchy plan written in sand at low tide (that is a quote from my buddy Ellen Gallant!) Mexico lends itself to beautiful photos which we will try to honor.
