Sayulita
29 January 2016 | Sayulita Trailer Park
Fred/Beachy
The town has grown quite a bit since we were last there several years ago. Lots of young Mexicans, older Canadians, and us Americans. The beach was packed and the campground next door must have had at least 100 tents in it. Lots of beer drinking and smoking and the Friday night party finally stopped at 4:30 AM!! Not much sleep that night.
The surf was up and big rip tides which resulted in one drowning. They didn't recover the body so there were boats and helicopters searching.
Saw 2 great movies, one about a young girl big wave rider in Hawaii and the other about action sports starting with surfing skiing and skateboarding in the early 60's. Brought back memories. Then on to rock climbing, free falling, extreme skiing, motorcycle jumping and mountain biking. Very well done film made in the USA.
We were going to stay 2 days but ended up staying 7. We did drive to La Cruz where we ran into yacht club friends John and Debby Rogers at the Sunday market. Stopped in Bucerias for lunch and a visit to the bank and Mega and then back to Sayulita.
Got a phone call from old friends Sharon and Mike Satterlee who had run into John and Debbie and we got together for lunch with them the next day. They built a beautiful home in Sayulita and I heard that they sold it so didn't think to call. Well they did sell it but were in town moving stuff out. Had a great visit and lunch with them. Penny will fill you in on the lunch.
