Patzquero is a treasure - it's a town from another time and place and you feel transported into the past. It is one of 82 towns or villages that are designated as "Pueblo Magico's" because of their beauty and cultural and historical values. The people of this town are friendly and happy and the town is kept spotless. We were lucky to meet up and hang out with Sandi and Tony from Canada. The four of us took the boat trip to Isla Janitzio - this is a waterborne bus to an island that has an enormous statue of Jose Morelos perched right at the tip top of the island. You can climb a ton of stairs inside and up his arm for a stunning view of the surroundings.
Later we went to the town plaza and were treated to some excitement- there was the most bizarre Gay Pride Parade that I've ever seen. Men dressed up like women . . men dressed up like Bulls . . men dressed up like gorillas and caballeros and what not. It was quite a riot - of course accompanied by (very) loud music and general hilarity. Quite fun!
We really enjoyed our stay in this wonderful village, but time to move on. On the road to San Miguel de Allende!
