We were a Hobie dealer for ten years, 6 of those years we sold Hobie Mirage drive Kayaks. Hobie makes great products and their kayak line is the best. We loved selling kayaks. We met so many interesting people and made allot of new friends doing so.
One of the highlights of our year and by far the best thing we ever did was the Indianapolis Boat, Sport and Travel Show. It was hard work and 28 days straight including moving in, setting up, working the show, tearing down, moving out and putting it all away. The reason I mention this TODAY is the show started back in Indianapolis today. Not that we will miss the work but what we do miss is working the show with the great people from Hobie. Steve, Lisa, Culley, Esther and AJ. We became good friends and had allot of fun!
Back to the post...our Tender. We chose an Inflatable Tandem Mirage Drive Kayak. The model is I-14.
This photo was taken a couple days ago in Dunedin.
And this one at Caladesi Island where we went to shore to explore
Here's how we get it off and back on the boat.
This is where she lives as we travel
It only take about 5 minutes to blow up using a coleman air mattress rechargeable air device, topping off with Hobie's pump. Add the seats and drives and away you go. Deflating takes even less time and putting it back in the bag is a breeze.
We've been using tandem Hobie kayaks since we started selling them and have logged hundreds of miles. It's nothing to go 10 miles round trip in a couple hours.
The version we have is a 2014. This is one of the last years Hobie made inflatable kayaks with soft seats...perfect for storage on the boat.
We brought supplies to TARDIS on the boat for the first time on Feb. 20th but have not gone fishing yet.
The only drawback is it's a wet ride in choppy seas but we're getting better at that too.
Here's the I-14 on Gulfport Beach. Been here 3x's already!
Great product and good choice for our needs.
