Visiting our friend Mike Huffer in Pine Island sound is always great. We left Ft Myers Mooring field and headed to a new anchorage (to us) east of Useppa Island. There we hooked up with Mike, went sailing on his Marshall 15, ate at the Collier Inn, and saw both fog and rain rainbows before leaving for Punta Gorda in a few days.
It was a straight forward motor to the chosen anchorage of 27nm followed by another 26nm trip to Punta Gorda.
Our visit with Mike was great. He picked us up on his boat and took us to his sailboat, a Marshall 15 moored on the east side of Useppa. Not much wind but Mike wanted to practice getting from the motor boat to the sailboat and back. All went well.
Afterwards we made our second visit to the Collier Inn on the island for lunch. Thanks Mike!
It's an enchanting place.
While at the anchorage we were treated to a fog rainbow. Never have we seen one before. The picture doesn't do it justice but you can get the idea.
Next day, it was a real rainbow.
Anchored in fog and hearing boats pass is just a little unnerving but no one hit us. Yeah! Nice anchorage but next time we'll drop a little further to the south.
After our quick visit with Mike and replacing some old household solid wiring to the refridgerator we headed back to Punta Gorda. Eileen leaves on the 14th and Charlie's friends Meredith and Dan come for a visit.
