Teens’ texting will always get the worst reputation when it comes to distracted teen driving. However, there are a million reasons that people take their eyes off the road for. And it’s not only the teens – majority teenagers also report that their parents also engage in different activities whilst driving. Following are a few of those distracting activities that people commonly engage in while driving:

• Looking at the passenger
It is natural for people to look at the person that they are talking to. At times, it is also important to maintain eye contact. Drivers would also therefore look at the person on the passenger seat while talking to them. This in fact is an absurd thing to do, as it is obvious that being attentive towards the road is much important.

• Putting on make-up
Putting on make-up is something you might find among most women. The process is distracting and it requires them to constantly look at the mirror.

• Getting directions/Finding something
Reading maps or looking for directions is distracting to a great level too. Besides that there has always came a point where we have dropped something on the foot mat and then had to reach out for it on the ground. Both these processes are very commonly distracting for people while driving.

• Messing with the music system
Despite that switching and playing music while driving causes much distraction, these entertainment systems are becoming complex and advanced by the day. The only solution to this distraction is implementing voice-commands. Or, one may also get a music system with easy to use buttons which can be controlled without looking at them.

• Looking at a scenery
There are a million things outside the car that can grab your attention. Food trucks, people on the foot-paths, billboards and the registration number of the car in front of you, etc. In case any thing gets your attention, it is sometimes hard to look away. This can be even more dangerous than texting while driving.

Children with their vulnerable minds are easily prone to the society evils. Though cell phones are helpful in communication, they are also highly responsible for deviating the minds of the young ones. 2015 survey reveals that majority of children gets their own cell phones at the age of 11. Parents, of most of these children do not even establish any regulations for the usage. This is highly disconcerting as several cases cellphone adversities have been reported.

Cyber bulling has increased over the years which have elevated the level of fear in children. In some extreme cases, children attempt suicide because of the bullying. Around 5000 children every year take their own lives because of suffering from bullying. The children hide their sufferings from their parents as reported by the CDC news.

One of the rising dilemma of the society is young teenagers are getting highly accustomed to sexting. Sending and receiving nudes and semi-nude photos is getting common. These photos get leaked on the internet, particularly on social media which ultimately results in ruining the reputation of that person. Statistically, 22 percent of the teenage girls discovered their own indecent pictures online. What these kids don’t realize is that the humiliation and the after effects of such incidents remain forever. Also, there is a high possibility of falling prey to the criminal minded people which can create serious implications in life.

Online world offers abundant charm and addiction. This compulsion causes negative impact on the children’s health mainly due to sleep deprivation. Cellphones usage also results in low grades which is also a serious problem. Another implication of the digital world is that it reduces the family interaction. This causes multiple problems as the parent-child relationship sets apart. The children are unable to get guidance and try to solve the problem depending upon their own intelligence which leads to further complexities.
