"Last Atlantic Sunset"

Team Dolce
We continue to benefit from great breeze/weather and now have NYC just 51nm off our bow. We're traveling at 8-8.5kts w/ a heading of 15degrees, surfing downwind in 18-22kts of breeze! Its amazing that just four nights ago we slipped the lines at Marsh Harbour, barreled through North Man-O-War Channel, hung a "left" and haven't deviated more than 15 degrees from that original heading.
We anticipate arriving to Ambrose lighthouse early Saturday morning (ETA 3am), then slowly making our way under the Verrazano Bridge to the tip of Manhattan, guided by the rising sun. We anticipate an early afternoon arrival back to SCYC. Should be a fun arrival party...my understanding is that when a Commodore returns from sea there is always much fanfare...just think what that means for Dolce w/ TWO Commodores.
Updated fishing report: we continue to game-fish w/ a great green/white lure shaped like a squid. At about 6:45am, we hooked a gigantic fish off the transom....it just took the line and took the line...spinning loudly...the whole spool emptied before the "Fish On" team could roll out of their bunks and man their fishing stations! What an experience...we guessed it was either a big TUNA or a dolphin. This evening we caught a real nice Blue but it was part of the "gaff-and-release" program.
Great ride today w/ minor boat maintenance including 1) changing of a Racor fuel filter, 2) adding oil to the engine and 3) diagnosing/fixing a loose wire that was preventing us from stopping the engine- otherwise everything is operating well. Only shortage right now is that Capt Pop appears to be low on his cigars, hence yesterday he started rationing himself to 1 a day.
Its been a fantastic ride but everyone is looking forward to arriving ahead of schedule and being back w/ family/friends!
