Gotta Take the Bad With the Good

It's time to leave Musket Cove. We needed to slip over to Denarau Marina for a day or two to get our boom gallows welded. It was a beautiful Morning Saturday, and we decided to set up arrangements ahead of time so that we would minimize our stay at the expensive marina. It's inexpensive to hop on a foot ferry over and the lure of a day trip to the city of Nadi was like fresh bait to fish. As soon as we arrived in Deanarau we decided to head for a great place to buy some DVD's. This is Chuck's favorite hang-out and I was looking forward to choosing some titles that we would stash for later in the year. We dropped our guard for just a second, and that's all it took for a pickpocket to steal my wallet. I had no cash, now begins the ordeal to deal with getting my driver's licenses and other assorted cards canceled and re-issued. So, we are delayed for a little while. We have police report in hand now so hopefully I can my driver's licenses re- issued. I am also working on getting a new dive card, and other little treasures. I sure learned an important lesson. Never carry anything that is not absolutely necessary for the day's outing. Credit cards are easy to cancel, but getting new ones mailed presents quite a delay. So if you can learn from my mistakes.....that will be a good thing. By the way, it's about impossible to be totally immune to professional pickpockets and petty thieves while in busy and crowded situations, but minimizing the damage....that is quite within our realm. I did a Google search on pickpocketing and got quite the education on the art. There are a number of "how to" sites that can be used for us to become less of a target. Before venturing out, I think we all could use a refresher course on being secure both in town and also securing our boats from being a target as well.
