Lockey day
21 October 2014 | Smithville, MS
Beautiful and 78 degrees
Second time I've tried this tonight, not sure why! Left Grand Harbour at first light but only got about 400 yards and dense fog moved in. We waited about 30 minutes until it lifted and then started down the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. it is a man made canal connecting the Tennessee River with the Tombigbee River and runs all the way to Mobile, Al. We transited four locks today and Sherrie has become very proficient at snagging the bollards and hanging on for dear life. Now we have stopped just above Fulton Lock at Smithville Marina. This is a real piece of Americana and backcountry river living. Really old boats that haven't moved in years containing liveaboards that are happy and friendly and have been here a long time. This would make great reality TV. I will post a picture tomorrow of the splendor. Tomorrow, we have several more locks before we hit Columbus, MS.
