Vestaford Mainland, 67deg N
The area from Tranoy to Bodo is called Vestafjord mainland, with some areas of large mountains dropping into the fjords and also wooded hillsides and hundreds of low, rocky islands. We had been recommended several anchorages but the weather was grey and we decided to move on, surveying the area from Tern, ending the first day in a good anchoring bay called Nordskot with serendipitous good wifi. Another day south, mainly motoring despite the wind being from the north and too light to sail, found us once again in Bodo. Bodo was wet and cold but at least the showers were hot and the wonderful library, with wifi, is such a haven.There are also supermarkets and we revisited the shop which sells discount outdoor pursuits clothing to buy more wool fishermans socks and a jumper, as these had proved ideal for northern climate sailing.
A visit to the Svartisen glacier was on our bucket list for the way home so after yet another day motoring south as still no sailable wind, we moored up next to the glacier as it nearly reaches the sea.
