I can't believe I have not updated my boat blog since I left Nantucket. Suffice it to say we made it to Rockland Maine last summer without doing any serious damage.

My friend George is a good photographer. he took this one as I was entering Rockland Harbor

Last Leg

16 June 2015
The last leg of my extended voyage from Galveston to Maine should be a 2 to 3 day sail from Cape Cod to Rockland. We will leave on Thursday afternoon to catch the flood tide through the Cape Cod Canal. The wind will likely be on our nose when we cast off but back to the southwest late Friday. You can follow our progress on my findmespot share page at

Or you can use a vessel tracking website like "https://www.vesselfinder.com/"and search on my MMSI number 367601390.

Abandon Ship

02 June 2015
When I was a young man I worked on offshore drilling rigs in various garden spots around the world. Conditions could often be miserably cold, wet and windy but that was the job so grin and bear it we did. Now that I am an old man I don’t have to grin and bear it when the weather turns ugly. The forecast for the next few days calls for cold, wet, north winds (and gentlemen don’t go to weather) so I will leave Rose in the good hands of the people here at Kingston Marina on Cape Cod and fly back to Houston. I’ll finish this odyssey when the winds shift to my favor.

Will write more later got to go catch a plane.

US Navy

"Securite Securite Securite this is United States Navy Warship 75 returning from sea to the Norfolk Navy Yard. Be advised all stations stay 500 yards clear" I told him I would slow it down when I went by...didn't want my wake to disturb the off watch sailors.

Left the dock at 12:56. Will sail the rumb line to Block Island to beat the norther forcast for Sunday.
