Thursday morning we untied the dock lines and left Charelston South Carolina and headed for the outside ( atlantic ocean) as we had a weather window to make it to Fernandina Florida which is the northern most eastern city in Florida. We set sail with a half dozen other boats. Our course took us 15 miles off shore with a south south west angle towards Florida, It was a 28 hour sail that was originally uneventful. The afternoon was a georgous sail with all the sails set. The evening was a dark soup and a surfing dance on unseen seas. Tossed about until morning as we awaited daylight. When the sun rose we wish it hadn`t. Confused seas and the mess below decks we were happy to reach Fernandina Florida. An eclectic town with many events for cruisers. while having breakfast a christmas dog parade went by the cafe`. The town Christmas tree was lit the night before very friendly people and good facilities. A cruise ship port. Lots of history and old buildings. After three days we will be moving on to St. Augustine Florida. Reportedly the oldest city in the U.S.
