Leaving the Great White North

One would think that preparing for a trip would be an exciting time, until you prepare for
a trip that takes you away for 4.5 months to numerous countries . When you leave for this period of time you have lots to take into consideration. My beloved cat for example not just anyone wants to take on the responsibility of looking after a fur ball for that length of time. Then there's the issues of cell phones, storage's, fridge contents that will never look the same when you come back, vehicles, etc and the list actually does go on forever. Then you have to decide if your going to drive or fly to your destination. Then for us once we get to our first destination where our sailboat is then we have weeks of prep work on her to get her back to normal and help us normalize and realize that your balance isn't as good as it was when you left (where are those sea legs).
We will be leaving tomorrow morning (Wed. Dec. 12) and make our way south. We should arrive in Florida in roughly 4 -5 days where we will spend a few weeks preparing the boat and then when we get our weather window we will cross the dreaded Gulf Stream over to the Bahamas, on to the Exuma's, Turks & Caicos and into the Dominican Republic. We will have lots of family spending time with us this year so it is going to be a fantastic sailing season.
