04 March 2014 | Peterson Cay
Sherry warm & 26 degrees
It's been awhile since I have written a post. My daughter and her family arrived from Calgary on the 17th to spend a few weeks with us on board the boat. We haven't gone out sailing yet with them not really any where to go around here where you can drop the hook for a few hours have lunch, swim and do some fishing although we have found one place so we are going to check into it. They have been to the beach a few times ( My granddaughter Sydney loves the beach) we have spent lots of time at the pool cooling off as the weather has been so hot and we have taken a bus to downtown Freeport and walked around there and did some sight seeing. My daughter Melissa, Brad and Sydney flew out on Sunday morning to go to paradise island for a few days and they will be back on Wednesday.
The manatee came around again and Sydney was able to actually pet it, I'm glad she could experience it. We had a Hugh feed of fresh Mahi the other night, a fisherman gave us enough for all 5 of us and there was still some left over for lunch the next day. It was a big hit even with my granddaughter. We made it to Peterson Cay on Saturday the weather was great and the seas were calm we dropped the hook had lunch and dinghied over to the island which consisted of three trees and the rest was sand, coral and small shrubs. We could not walk around the island as it is a bird sanctuary now and they are nesting, but we laid on the white sand beaches snorkelled about and just relaxed. We had a great time to bad it had to end. The island was also covered in hermit crabs, Sydney had a blast playing with them.
We spent another day at the beach and went to rent some chairs and umbrellas but they wanted 35.00 for each chair and umbrella and we opted out was to expensive so Brad got creative and made his and Sydney's chair and umbrella out of sand and Pom Fronds.
