Out of the twenties and into the thirties
23 June 2014
It is Sunday, 22 June, 9:30 boat-time. We just crossed 30 north and we are sailing along nicely at 6.3 knots in a light southeasterly breeze. Some sightings from this morning include whales, (yay!) Portuguese man o wars, a rusty floating propane tank, half a dozen plastic bottles, some trailing a mini ecosystem along, and a smattering of flying fish skimming across the water like a dance troupe. Yesterday Mark saw a big shark off our bow. Stay on board Kiri! We are enjoying this pleasant sailing as our weather consultants report a complex scenario to the north of us and instruct us to get our foul weather gear and warm socks out ... hmm... . From here we'll be heading east northeast, dodging a front for a bit. Eventually we'll thread our way north again.
