Salt Spring Island

It is day 6 of our journey, and it is time to cast off from our dock at the Strata on Salt Spring Island. Our trip up from the Sidney Spit was uneventful except for the fact that we crossed paths with a super yacht that I had seen during my stay in Puerto Vallarta awaiting our departure for the Pacific crossing. I had conversed with the captain just before they were departing for their return to home base in Canada. To cross paths like this only goes to show how small this world really is! Our stay in Ganges gave us a chance to catch up with old friends that we had made during our prior trips to our townhouse last year. We were able to have dinner at our favorite restaurant, Auntie Pesto’s with long time friends, Bob and Brenda. We also had a home cooked meal with Bill and Susan, whom we first met after buying our townhome. Today was the weekly street fair. The only downer for this stop was the heavy rain that we experienced on Thursday, but today is partly cloudy, and we are about to leave for our next stop-Clam Bay where we will anchor for the night in order to best time our traverse of Dodd Narrows, just south of Nanaimo, our next stop. After taking some time to enjoy our stay there, it will be time to head north. The weather forecast is looking good, but only time will tell, considering this extended spring that is being brought to us compliments of La Nina.
