s/v LONG WINDID

"We're grateful for being here, wherever here is."

Magical

The wind has been at the nose the entire trip. However, at the beginning of my 22:00 to 02:00 watch, the wind began to clock in our favor and we could finally point the boat in the direction of our destination. The seas were flat and calm, the wind was pulling us from wind line to wind line at speeds of 4.5 to 7 kts. Long Windid was comfortably on her feet ploughing through the water leaving a nice wake behind. There wasn't a cloud in sight and the moon hadn't yet risen so the sky was full of stars with a hint of the Milky Way. While laying back in the cockpit listening to Crosby, Stills and Nash and a pillow under my head, I watched for hours, dozens of shooting stars (many with long trailing tails) fall from the sky. As my watch was coming to an end, the Southern Cross came into focus against the back drop of all the other stars around it. There wasn't much time to admire the constellation as it quickly disappeared below the horizon. Wow, what a night.
