Yellowpatch
05 August 2015
We arrived at Cape Capricorn, and anchored at the foot of the lighthouse, as we had missed the high tide necessary to enter yellowpatch. While there we climbed the steep hill to take in a glorious 360 deg view from the lighthouse perched on top of the rugged headland. Well worth the effort.
By the afternoon we had found our way in and anchored beside the huge dark yellow sand blow that gives yellowpatch its trademark.
We spent a week there happily fishing (the yabbies and fish were plentiful), socialising (there was 6 other cats there), and exploring and enjoying the wildlife. It. Is truly a special place largely untouched and accessible only by boat.
We left to head for great keppel and decided to check out hummocky Island on the way. It was so nice we anchored for the night just to enjoy the wild remoteness of an isolated island all to ourselves.
