During my year sailing , many things wore out and needed repair , replacement or upgrade . Nothing seemed more telling to me than my footwear . I wore down two pair of sneakers . One pair of work shoes and got a good start on a pair of hiking boots . I wish everything was as easy to replace as a pair of shoes . The cost was well worth the adventure . At least I keep telling my knees that .

The passage from the Abacos to the Chesapeake had both calms and squalls . The sunrise on our arrival day to the Chesapeake was a welcome sight . The subsequent sail up the Bay had its own challenges , but the entire trip from Marsh Harbor to the Sassafras River was 12.5 days . I was glad to be home . I get to see my Girls and the "little guys " soon !

During our hike on Lynyrd Cay , birds would protect their nest by diving on our heads , while other birds would try and lure us away . Their nests consisted of nothing more than a sandy area with a small , scrub weed for cover .

We no sooner tied up the dink over the reef off Sand Cay , than a turtle greeted us to show us the way . This was the best reef I have seen in all my travels .

While exploring blue holes in the Abacos , we came across this memorial to three guys drowned . They had been exploring the caves in the blue holes . R.I.P.
