larantuka
12 August 2011
Larantuka is in its 1st year of being a host for the rally boats, and unfortunately it might be the last. the anchorage here is just not suitable for visiting yachts of any number, there are only 6 boats here at the moment and the anchor area they have provided is allready full and if any more boats come in they would have to anchor in 30m of water with strong currents, and i'm sure they would like to have at least 30 boats attend there ceromonies and dinner. Also the beach where they want us to land our dinghies is full of rubbish and covered in rocks at low tide.
The organizers were told of our concerns and did there best to find another anchorage but the one we surveyed was no better, so i think we will leave in the morning and find a nice quiet peacefull anchorage with a sandy beach and coconut palms.
We did go into town for lunch and found an english speaking resturant owner and had tuna and chips ,a nice change from nasi georing, and i bought a machette for michelle, cause she wants to climb a tree to collect coconuts,ye right.
The photos in the gallery have now been updated.
