Deep Blue
07 July 2010 | Pacific Cup
Scott
Today as the light finally brightened to a gleaming overcast, the deep blue of the pacific shown like a jewel. Looking out in the distance, nothing but sea all around us. Clouds continue to plague us but the spectacular color of the ocean is incredible. We started in the early morning with light air before dawn it built up to a decent wind. As the day continued so did the wind build finally bringing a respectable drive for our sails.
We launched our first spinnaker today, the small reacher. It gave us a chance to feel the speed and surge of the wind. This is what we came for, he big sails and the fast boating. With the new sail came our first catch, a tuna. I'm not much of fisherman, but I do like to eat fresh fish!
Today finishing off with the first clear sky - a lighter blue, not as deep as the sea, but just as spectacular. Hoping for my first glimpse of a star tonight. 1715 miles to go... Scott
