Over half way there
14 July 2010 | Pacific Cup
Kim
We did it. We made it half way, now the home stretch. Our spirits were lifted quite considerably by our traditional half way party. Jennifer and Matt cooked up some crabcakes for appetizers, we then had steak, twice bake potatoes and asparagus. And, of course there was dessert of chocolate cake. We opened all of our gifts and cards from spouses and kids. What a treat, thanks to all. We just passed by Great White, an Express 28, and they hailed us on the radio. Their halfway party was getting engaged! Crazy people out here I tell you! We offered them one mai tai in Kanehoe! Tomorrow is going to be tough as we got off of our crew watch schedule somewhat this afternoon with our party and such and now trying to get back on it. For those of you who know our continuing engine sagas, after tracking it all back to the source, and process of elimination Vince figured it out and fixed it! It was the tank selector all this time! I'll let you ask him for more details. All I can say is that I know who I'm going to start paying by the hour vs. some big boat yards and such going forward (Okay, I know that's mean, but hey!). Tiki J has the best problem solvers on our boat. Even during children's hour they were giving us a hard time because we have a "brilliant engineer" who fixed the SSB, an "IT guy" who did something else and so on. One boat asked us what else we had on board and we said a concierge and massage therapist! It's amazing (not really) at how extremely nice and friendly everyone is out here. I guess that is why it's called seamanship. Well, off watch to bed for our nightly continuation of sailing the great Pacific. Kim
