2016 Update: Max (12) & Cody (9) Dickinson will be joining us this year. Their first passage half way across the Pacific Ocean. Scott and Kim are former Foster City, CA residents recently transplanted to Portland, OR. [...]They acquired Tiki J with the next Pac Cup in mind soon after Scott sailed in the 2008 Pacific Cup with friends aboard Ada Helen hailing from Coyote Point YC in San Mateo, where Tiki J still resides. Scott, Kim, and Brad along with four other CPYC sailors successfully completed the 2010 Pacific Cup in Tiki J (blog posts still accessible via the sidebar link). Kim, Brad (Oakton, VA), and Bill (Austin, TX) are the three "kids" in one of the original J/Boat families started by Bill Sr. & Carolyn Worsham in Port Neches, Texas as members of Port Arthur YC. The first west coast sailing experience for these five was aboard their J/24 #583 in the 1980 J/24 North Americans at StFYC. Bill Sr helped prep Tiki J for the 2010 race and will be part of the return crew this year. Alyssa (Oakton, VA) is Brad's daughter and the oldest of the next generation of sailors (and engineers) in the family. The Oakton Worshams are previous J/105 and J/109 owners sailing out of Annapolis, MD. At race time Alyssa will be on walkabout between high school graduation and the start of fall classes at UCLA. Ken (Tustin, CA) and Bill (former SoCal resident and 1991 TransPac vet) have sailed many west coast keelboat regattas together mostly in J/24's, including a number in SF Bay. Ken sails primarily out of Dana Point, CA.

Dole in Hawaii earlier this year. Charley and the University of Hawaii collegiate sailing team stayed with us in Port Neches, TX during a regatta hosted by the Lamar University sailing team long ago (early '80s?) and we had several later occasions to stay in touch. Kim saw him after the 2010 Pac Cup when he was helming a J/24 in the local beer can race at age 90-something. We had hoped to see him again this summer. We will think about him often during the race and would like to lift a glass with others who knew him once we arrive in Hawaii.
