5S - may she rest in pieces

For some of you, my apologies for my level of detail here but want to let those know. Our lovely 5S spinnaker is our second casualty of the trip late yesterday/this morning. While taking her down, albeit probably 1 hour later than we should have, the halyard went down before it was socked. She went for a swim, but we managed miraculously somehow someway to get her ALL back on the boat. The edging was ripped and looked like a section of the top panel may be in a few pieces. Everyone was safe during the maneuver, but we obviously are all in mourning over our favorite sail. The sock rip cord was the only thing that was left for this morning as it was "caught" on something under the boat. Just now as I'm getting off my shift we attempted to pull it back on board by rotating the shaft and putting her in gear...HOORAY the line came completely off.
We passed California Condor 2 hours after our mishap and suddenly our situation was not so bad. For those of you who might not know, she is steering by her drogue. Tiki J herself is holding up great, but again that's why we bought her.
So, it's a new day and we just put 5S on the transom for her ceremony later in the day. We are now getting out our new favorite spinnaker the 4S to head back more on course (if you've been tracking us this morning you can see we are obviously under #1 genoa still). We will definitely give her more lovin'. Maybe since she's our new favorite she won't "do the boogie" so much in the waves.
The good news is is that the heads and refrigerator are working great! Woohoo. Oh yeah, and the engine now too - double woo!
I'm sure there is more that I'm leaving out or you have more questions, but all is well and we are only a 4 days out (we think!) from our final destination!
