Brad
Our 1st third is winding down as wind pressures are slowly easing and we shook out the 2nd reef (yesterday afternoon). Last night was a pleasant change from the 16-20kts to generally 12-15kts from the ENE. From the radio call last evening it sounds like we had it relatively easy through the squall zone as boats that departed after us were reporting 30kts in squalls 150nm behind us. We saw more like 25-26kts.
Fuel is a dwindling concern with all of the good sailing we've had so far, but our 2nd third just began as I was typing - Tom had to fire up the iron jib to stop us slatting in 5kts of wind. This third will be a lot of motorsailing at best, and motorslatting at worst.
Our 3rd third will be about meal management. We're not in any danger of starving, but the menu will be a lot of "what's left." The fishing lines went out early this morning. Good news is that current predictions have us reaching for the last 700 miles in moderate winds. There's a lot of water between us and that thrid at the moment.
