Brad
We're less than 1000nm out now, and in horse-to-barn mode. Great news is that we could sail from here and still probably make our Sunday target. All optimizations, models and variables converge on virtually the same path, with 10-15kts of breeze from bettering angles until the end game, once we shutoff the iron gennie within the next 24 hours. We're currently motorsailing under reefed main (does that thing even go all the way up the mast!) doing 6.2kts SOG on a course of 69degM. Winds are 6-9kts on the nose, but even so, the main helps dampen the rolling. We've let the eye of the high and now have damp air and overcast skies. Water temp is 69.4F, which is about what it was yesterday when we caught the tuna.
We've run down the stbd fuel tank, topped off the port tank, and still have another tank full (30+ gallons in 6 jerry cans) hiking on the port rail for rest of the trip. In a stroke of luck our heaviest crew's assigned bunk is the port settee, overtop the 3/4 full water tank, so we're highly optimized. I might even put the #3 and storm jibs on the port rail to do their part when the wind fills in.
Poke is chillin', and sushi rice is cooling...
