After nearly 5 months in Almerimar, southern Spain we shipped out yesterday at 7am, we being Anne, Fiona and I heading for Gibraltar.

We had a 24 hour window of calm / easterlies before the dominant strong westerlies came back in ( which they have). A 22 hour motor along the coast under the snow clad Sierra Nevada mountains got us into Gibraltar for 5am this morning.

To get there we had to weave through perhaps 20 ships, not under command or just floating about in the queue to deliver their fuel to Spain. We anchored in the same spot where we spent a week last August and conked out by 5:30am only to be woken by the sound of the customs vessel telling us to get out of the no anchoring zone!

We will spend a few days here and, current weather map proving correct we will head west on Tuesday, probably aiming for Cadiz.
