The breeze left us last night. After great winds since we left, they finally sighed their last and faded to nothing early this morning. Prior to that we had been rolling around, sails slatting and boom crashing for hours. Doesn't half make hearing the gangsta talk on The Wire difficult. The noise and wear and tear got to us at 2am so we dropped all the sails, hoisted the gennaker and enjoyed the sound of a different sail flapping about. But at least it doesn't do too much damage. A slight improvement at dawn an hour ago with 5 knots across the deck. At this speed we will arrive in about another three weeks. On the other hand, the crew of the 141 foot Bella Regazza that crossed our horizon at 10 knots under a cloud of black carbon sails yesterday will no doubt be purring, also at 10 knots along under engine. Just as well we've a terrabyte or two of movies.
