Walk in another's shoes...
15 May 2011 | Salahua (Manzanillo)
Does anybody remember how we laughed at the people from the cruise ships who never get farther than Sam's Club, WalMart and Liverpool Galleria? Well... where did we find ourselves today, but in the mall! The excuse was groceries, but we did feel a bit sheepish wandering around in the air conditioning, window shopping, eating mango nieves (frozen fruit slush), and watching people. We'll get a little farther this week, such as ferreterias, tiendas de telas, and other essential business destinations - and sight-seeing around Manzanillo. And there's still the pool at Las Hadas!
Where we are now
14 May 2011 | Las Hadas, Manzanillo Bay, Mexico
It's a whole new life - again. Moving, that is. It's been 175 miles in 6 days - not very fast, but very nice. There's been virtually no wind, so we've motored or motor/sailed, day hops with lazy days in between. We're going to need to stay in the Manzanillo area for a few days because we need to have the cooling system on the outboard motor checked (new impeller??) and figure out why the autopilot won't do its job. Steering isn't a problem for short day hops, but it will get real old when we start doing longer legs, as the comfy anchorages get much farther apart further south. In the meantime there's the pool at Las Hadas, and exploring the towns and woods around Manzanillo Bay. The weather is great - 90° with a little breeze is just perfect. El Salvador will be there when we get there.
