Finally some fresh trade winds
26 February 2017 | 362 NM to Virgin Gorda

GMT Noon Position on Sunday 2/26 20 17 N 58 16 W Distance to Gorda 262 NM 24 hour noon to noon run 148 NM, made good 147 NM
The trades arrived early morning with 16 - 22 knots of breeze after having had 12 - 15 for the prior 24 hours, enough to put in a decent run with the spinnaker deployed - we are now running with the jib on a pole for ease as we are essentially taking turns single handing around the clock without the benefit of an auto pilot. Our latest grib weather file show good winds for the remainder of the trip, so we are looking at an arrival on the 28th at this point.
Judy timed the food perfect, yesterday we had fresh baked sourdough BLT sandwiches for lunch - she uses some 'green bag's' - whatever that is - but having crisp lettuce after almost 3 weeks out was quite outstanding. Menu for tonight is tenderloin, tomorrow Chili Especial,
I have never dedicated anything in my life, but I guess now is as good a time as ever to do so. Not sure what good it will do, but having uninterrupted time to reflect on life during these long trips ( no stupid news tweets, political manipulation, traffic jams or mindless TV commentary ) puts some things in a different prospective. How lucky we are to be able to bond with the stars and breathe unpolluted ocean air. We have had ZERO news updates while under way for 3 weeks, it feels liberating, particularly for me, a dedicated news junkie. We are pretty sure Trump shut down the FCC radio towers on the East Coast , because we are still unable to connect our SSB radio to FL, SC or any other East Coast location - our blogs go out via a link in Belgium!
So I will dedicate this trip to some friends who are having some struggles.
Svend G. and Niels H. are both fighting successful battles against cancer - events that suddenly changed their focus on life. And Gary T., who - just as we left Lanzaote - had a major Heart scare. We have thought and talked about you a lot during the trip, it is dedicated to you.
